Some might say you really have not yet seen the contemporary American West, especially Utah, until you've seen it through the eyes of photographer David C. Schultz. As the owner of the West Light Images gallery in Park City, Utah, David has made a successful career of capturing the brilliant colors, stunning natural features, and tiniest details of the Western American landscape on film.

Since the opening of his Photographic Galley, David has traveled the globe and his collection of limited edition photographs continues to grow. Recent images from Schultz’s travels to Antarctica and the Scandinavian Arctic are now available, along with photographs from closer to his home in Utah such as Bryce National Park, Zion, Arches and Lake Powell and the Wasatch Mountains. Mount Timpanogos and the Sundance area are also featured and of special interest to the photographer. In November of 2007 David traveled to Cape Churchill, Manitoba Canada to photograph polar bears in the Wapusk National Park on the Hudson Bay. Video of the polar bear and the Tundra Buggy Lodge may be viewed in the new "Video Collection". October of 2008 found David aboard the Kapitan Klebnikov, a Russian icebreaker, heading to the Weddell Sea of Antarctica to photograph Emperor penguins. Those images are now available.

We hope you enjoy viewing the many galleries showcased on the West Light Images website. From Patagonia to Alaska, wildflowers to the wildlife photographs, there’s sure to be an image, hopefully several, that will make a nice addition to your art collection. Be certain to visit the Penguin gallery which is sure to bring a smile to your face. A personal favorite of David’s!

At age 13, David was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Consequently, he was cautioned against pursuing a career which would put him in isolated situations or force him to be dependent on his eyesight. These warnings prompted him to see as much of the world as he could after finishing school and it was during his extended road trips throughout the U.S. and Canada that Schultz discovered the beauty of the natural world. Soon he owned his first 35mm camera and began to teach himself the art of photography.

A native of Michigan, David moved to Dallas at age twenty-two and began his career as a fashion photographer, which he pursued for seven years. Following a visit to Utah on assignment in 1987, he returned to Dallas, closed his studio, and moved to the alpine town of Heber, Utah, where he currently resides. Since moving to Utah, David has concentrated on photographing landscape and wildlife images. His work has appeared in such publications as Travel & Leisure, Snow Country, Cowboys and Indians, Islands, Digital Photographer, Double Exposure,Rangefinder, etc... David's work is also available as stock photography for advertising, editorial and educational purposes.

In 1990, David began producing a series of limited edition photographs of his favorite images and in the fall of 1998, he decided to open his own gallery, West Light Images, in Park City, Utah.
